REICHLUNDPARTNER Public Relations and Silver Living took the opportunity to create a journalist award to draw more attention to “living in old age” in the media. Silver Living is the market leader in privately financed housing for senior citizens in Austria and wants to use the award to encourage more social discussion about ageing. The award ceremony was successfully held for the sixth time last week.
Under the motto “Life in old age – between status quo and visions”, outstanding works by Austrian journalists were honored in the categories text, radio, TV and young talent. The awardis endowed witha total of 17,500 euros, making it one of the most important prizes for journalists in Austria. First place in the text, radio and TV categories went to Christine May/Salzburger Nachrichten, Monika Feldner-Zimmermann/Ö1 and Marianne Waldhäusl/ORF. The young talent award went to Sarah Kowatschek/OÖNachrichten.
“A broad public debate about life in old age is very important to us. We are all getting older – as the statistics clearly show. The 65+ age group already accounts for around 20 percent of the total Austrian population, and the trend is rising. For this reason, we are organizing the Silver Living Award for the sixth time, with which we would like to honor the media’s engagement with the topic,” Walter Eichinger and Thomas Morgl, Managing Directors of Silver Living, explain the motivation behind the award ceremony.
